When the sun begins to set, the best thing to do in Nusa Lembongan is visit this thunderous display of power. At this rugged cliff face, waves slam the rock walls and create foamy fountains, rainbows, and reflective infinity pools. The more adventurous become further entwined, jumping 3-4 meters into the crystal waters below. A photographer's dream!
Nusa Lembongan, along with Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida, is part of an archipelago of three islands that lay about 17 kilometers southeast of Bali. The island has a permanent population of around 5,000 warm and inviting locals. A yellow bridge connects Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, the smallest of the three islands, making it easy to travel from one to the other.
Tourism development, which began approximately 10 years ago, is primarily concentrated along the north coast. The economy is largely based on tourism and is particularly well known for its world-class surfing, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

The local inhabitants also subsist on agriculture, fishing, and seaweed farming.
There are four main methods of getting around Nusa Lembongan- hiring a private driver, taking a taxi, renting a motorbike, or using your own two feet!
Nusa Lembongan is a great place to walk, with coastal paths linking nearly all of the guest houses, hotels, and restaurants. Most walks take less than two hours. The less developed southwestern area of the island has some spectacular coastal paths which offer easy strolls, with great views back to Bali, and spectacular sunsets. You can cross by foot to the small neighboring island of Nusa Ceningan via a scenic suspension bridge.
No cars, no nightclubs and no shopping makes it a great place to completely relax and spend quality "you" time.
At only 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) long, Nusa Lembongan can be easily explored on foot, with roads connecting tourists to various attractions. The northeastern side of the island is flanked by a relatively large area of mangroves totaling around 212 hectares.

- Wireless internet capability is fairly widespread, even at the cheapest hotels and backpacker haunts. The fastest and most reliable Wi-Fi is offered by the Beach Club at Sandy Bay, and this is free for all guests at the restaurant.
- There are a couple of basic, well-signed public internet cafes at the southern end of the main coastal road in Jungut Batu.
- Most internet cafes also have a download limit in addition to charging for time, so save your media streaming activities for Bali.
- The national phone company, Telkomsel, provides a decent 4G connection, however, it may default to 3G.
- There is a small medical clinic in Jungut Batu with an attendant doctor. This is a perfectly good facility for treating minor ailments, but visitors with any serious complaints should seek assistance in Bali or Lombok.
- Marine conservation is considered extremely important to sustaining future levels of tourism on the island and in February 2009, a local NGO from Nusa Lembongan, facilitated by The Nature Conservancy Coral Triangle Center, opened a community center on Nusa Lembongan.
- The waters around the Nusa Islands have at least 247 species of coral and 562 species of reef fish.

The rainy season is from November till March but don’t let this hold you back to visit the Gili Islands. The rain commonly falls by the end of the afternoon. There is no better feeling than a natural shower after a long hot day on the beach! The average temperature is between 27C and 32C and the average humidity is 70%.
